Eco&Tech Qualification and Certo
The Eco&Tech qualification classifies the operators involved into the management of end of life electrical and electronical equipments and certifies the quality of their activities according to the CEI 308-2 guidelines.
Waiting for the WEE Directive to come in force, these guidelines are the only existing operating instrument in the fields of collection, stocking, dismantling, treatment, recovery and disposing of hi-tech materials.
The Eco&Tech qualification aims at:
Improve the management quality of services related to end of life electrical and electronical equipments;
Highlight the Operators that carry out these services properly with communication activities;
Cooperate with the Establishment.
The Qualification process needs both a company audit, that is carried out by an expert verifier who inspects and confronts the company activities in order to control the accordance to the CEI, and a periodic surveillance in order to guarantee the customers the quality of the services.
The Qualification, that is issued by a specific Qualification Committee, is considered:
by the companies involved in hi-tech waste management as a specific "trade certificate" (completely independent from any other pre-exhisting company certification like ISO 9000 e/o ISO 14000), i.e. as a guarantee certificate;
by the customer companies, as a selective reference to evaluate the operators behaviour
May 2004: Relight recieved the Eco&Tech Qualification for the following service classes
Class 2: Monitors, TVs and fluorescent lamps collection, transport
Class 3: Monitors, TVs and fluorescent lamps storage
Class 6.7 Cathode ray tube treatment
Certo Consortium (National Consortium for Hi-Tech waste Eco-Treatment):
associates the end of life e-waste operators that are qualified according to CEI 308-2 guidelines;
aims to uniform and communicate a standard behaviour for the e-waste end of life operators based on the quality of every step of the process, quality that is guaranteed by the Eco&Tech Qualification.
